Indore Cooperative Dugdh Sangh , a cooperative that sells packaged milk, has recorded a 15 per cent hike in milk collection in the rainy season, though sale of packaged milk has slipped, leaving more than 20,000 litre surplus daily.
Daily collection of milk with Indore Cooperative Dugdh Sangh has jumped to 2.75 lakh litre as against the consumption of 2.55 lakh litre, according to cooperative.
The surplus milk is routed to the milk powder plant to make butter and powder. Dr RK Doorwar, CEO, Indore Cooperative Dugdh Sangh said, “There has been a jump in daily milk collection of milk. Everyday collection has surpassed the consumption leaving a good quantity of surplus with us that we are using for making butter and powder. The sale of packaged milk has slipped because of increased availability of milk in market.”
